Martini & wine bar
Intro written by Barbara Collier via Cleveland.com May 5th 2012:
Two Chagrin Falls High School buds from the class of 1997, Jeff Rumplik and Brad Cubbal, opened Clifton Martini & Wine Bar in Cleveland several years ago. Their success prompted them to move east and open Village Martini & Wine Bar in Chagrin Falls, in The Galleria location that once housed Trifles Bistro & Bar.
Large and undraped picture windows overlook the sizable, fenced patio, which seats at least 45. Inside, tabletops are bare and art by local artists dots the walls (the art is for sale).
Rumplik is the general manager, while Cubbal is the executive chef.
Cubbal is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University with a master’s in hospitality and food management. His career goes back to when he was 14 and worked in Chagrin restaurants, including Hunter’s Hollow, Leonettis by the Falls and Joey’s.
Rumplik worked at several Las Vegas restaurants before returning to Cleveland. For four years he ran the Fairmount Martini & Wine Bar. His family has been in the restaurant business for years.
The team buys local as much as possible, which can be a problem during the winter. They are looking for a local producer of pork and beef. Everything possible is made from scratch.
